SAFFIE B BAKAR, JMN, SMP, AMP, PJK. Executive Director and Founder Director since 1994, aged 71, Male, Malaysian. He graduated with a B.A. (Honors) majoring in Geography in 1977 and subsequently received a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (DPA) from the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1978. In 1988, he obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the United States International University (USIU)(ALLIANT) in San Diego, California, USA sponsored by Malaysian Federal Government Fellowship under in service training programme. He has more than 47 years of experience specializing in management with extensive knowledge and skills in industrial project planning and project management, business development, corporate strategy, internal auditing, risks management, corporate governance, property development, human resources management, gold and copper mining exploration, Cross Border Investment (CBI), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), corporate advisory transactions including Privatization, Initial Public Offering (IPO), Reverse Takeovers (RTO), Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and General Offer (GO). He was attached to the Perlis State Government, Malaysia from May 1978 to August 1983, during which he served as Director of Perlis State Economic Planning Division. He joined Perlis State Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) in September 1983 as Business Development Manager until his optional retirement from the government service in August 1994. Between Sept.1994 to Dec.2016 (23 years), he was the Corporate Advisor to Shorubber (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of SHOWA Group, a Japanese owned brand manufacturer (OBM) and exporter of industrial gloves. He had undergone numerous training programs with the World Bank, UNDP, UNCTC, University of California, Berkeley, USA, University of Hong Kong and Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. Between August 1978 and March 1981 (2 years 7 month), he also received in house training in the “State and Rural Development Project” (SRDP), which was funded by the Malaysian Ministry of Economics Affairs (MEA) and organized by UNDP and the World Bank. He became a Local Counterpart to the Regional Planning Advisor, the Industrial Project Advisor and the Infrastructure Project Advisor who are all World Bank experts. He is a Chartered Audit Committee Director (CACD) of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA,USA) (Malaysian Chapter - IIAM) since 2008, a Central Committee Member of Malaysian Exporters Association (MEXPA) and also a life member of Malaysian Drug Prevention Association since 1979. He served as Co-Chairman of the Special Task Forces to Facilitate Business (PEMUDAH) for Perlis State (2009-2019). He previously served as the Chairman of Board of Directors of MESB Berhad (2004- 2019) and EKA Noodles Berhad and as the Independent Non-Executive Director of Scanwolf Corporation Berhad and G3 Global Berhad. Currently, he is a Non- Independent Non-Executive Director of AE Multi Holdings Berhad (AEM) which he is a member of the Board of Directors since 2005. Not just limited to his own ventures, Dato’ Lai Lay Lee also holds the position of Director in his company. On top of that, he's proudly leading the way as the Chairman of the SME Association of Malaysia in Perlis, showing his dedication to growing businesses and fostering collaboration.
